![]() Wells Hosiery Mill's dye operations involve everything from sample dyeing to final dye production; our capability to produce each facet of the dyeing process in house makes for a smoother process and quicker turn around. Initially, our customer will present a color sample, in which our dye specialist will formulate a color and develop a dye sample. A sample fabric is dyed in a laundrometer - a smaller, more controlled dye machine - to test the color similarity, color sustainability, and the compatibility of the dye with the fabric. The two samples are then compared to each other under a light box and spectrophotometer. The light box offers a variaty of lighting - cool light, daylight, T184, artificial light, and UV - making for a more specific match. The spectrophotometer is a machine designed to measure the properties of the two colors and numerically define the similarity of the sample to the original, thus assuring the most accurate match. Once the sample has been approved, greige goods of either hosiery or seamless wear are dyed in our dye tubs. Our rotary and paddle tubs range in size from 3lbs to 200lbs, which allow us to produce as low as 1 dozen or as high as 80 dozen at a time. |
